God is in the sky, above the clouds?

Every reference to God depicts a man in the clouds, above the earth. Well I've been up there- way above the clouds. I've been even ped through some of these clouds in free fall! I've yet to catch a glimpse of any God however (or angels for that matter.) Where exactly does god reside? I would like to perform a drop in that area, just to check it out. I think it would be fun to skydive with a deity.
